Obituary

Joan W. Goodson, 71, of Newton, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

Born on December 16, 1936 in Chatham County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph John Wesley Wingate and Ethel May Heriot Wingate. She was a member of Sovereign Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 10-year old granddaughter, Amber Nicole Jones of San Antonio.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel D. Goodson; daughter, Catherine Anne Jones Caldwell and her husband, Neal of Maiden; son, Robert Nelson Jones and his wife, Lori of San Antonio, TX; step son, Daniel B. Goodson and his wife, Laurie of Apple Mountain, VA; and six grandchildren: Megan Rae Bloodworth of San Antonio and Brittain Goodson, Catherine Goodson, Gabrielle Goodson, Graeme Goodson, and Sophia Goodson of Apple Mountain.

A service of remembrance will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend Cody Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery in Newton.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
